I just realized that I haven't written a journal entry in a long time. I changed careers back in July. Going from a job that was essentially just a job. To a career where I get to draw all day, everyday. It might be the most gratifying job I have ever had. It's challenging and rewarding. It gives me something to be grateful for everyday. This time of year is always a great time for reflection. And reflecting on this year I have nothing to gripe about and so so much to be grateful for. I am excited to come into work everyday. It is truly a dream job.
And I have taken this almost motivational speaker type of attitude. That if you want your dream job you can go out and get it. If you want to draw everyday and get paid for it, you can make it happen. The only advice being that you gotta grind to get it. `LeSean Thomas said something to the effect that you gotta grind everyday to stay in the game because someone will always be doing the same. That really struck a chord with me. Then I read this article on Artofmanliness.com ([link]) that talked about The Importance of Hustle. It extolled the virtues of going above and beyond the ordinary to achieve the extraordinary. Basically, taking those as signs from God, I decided to treat storyboarding like a second job. Everyday I was coming home and working for hours on storyboards. I was taking classes. I was grinding. I was hustling. I barely saw my wife I was so into my work. It was a second job. But now it has become my only job. And I am crazy happy.
If my enthusiasm is sickening to your cynical heart, I apologize. But, the idea of setting a goal/having a dream and then accomplishing it has always seemed so abstract. So once I did it. I couldn't help but be excited and happy more than most people have any right to be. However, I openly acknowledge that I wouldn't have been able to to any of it if it weren't for the incredible support and love I got from my friends and family. I have the best friends a guy could ask for. They encouraged me when I was being down on myself. I also had amazing teachers ~herkPRIME and ~AZNbebop They really got me going. Now I just have to follow the latter's advice when he told me once I got the job I have, "Don't screw it up!"

but only the things left by those who hustle."-Abraham Lincoln
